Flight Rising is a robust, interactive dragon-collecting petsite with a heavy focus on customization. Each dragon can be one of over a dozen breeds, have three of dozens of genes and hundreds of colors, and one of eleven eye colors which are further split into different eye types, as well as be equipped with several of hundreds of equippable apparel. Not only that, but dragons can wear user-created skins, be given a pet to bond with, be put against a backdrop of site artwork, level up by fighting, and be bred with other dragons to acquire hatchlings that are a mix of their parents' genes and colors-- everything you can get on this site is geared towards customization in some way.
I won't praise the community, because it doesn't deserve it, nor the site's overall user experience, because it is lacking in several places. But it is a fun game, a wonderful time-waster, and a much more modern take on the sort of thing Neopets tried and ultimately failed at doing: a heavily customizable pet-raising game that lets the player form attachments to their pets and write intricate background lore about them.
