Annibelle Spruce
Written and created by Keileon.

Professor Annibelle Spruce is a scatterbrained professor who gives starter Pokémon to new trainers, including Mary, Jordan, and Rhodie. Quick to forget what she was doing or hyperfixate on some new study, Spruce even has a bed in her laboratory just in case she works herself so hard that she can't make the journey back home. In fact, she's sleeping when you arrive for your Pokémon!

Her field of research revolves around the intelligence of Pokémon, both wild and captive. The Pokémon she offers these three young trainers are special: though they were bred in captivity and are perfectly tame, they've never seen the inside of a Poké Ball and are technically still wild. In order to start your journey, you must capture your starter, which will further Spruce's testing.

Acento Reed
Written and created by Lord X-Giga-X.

Acento is a powerful and experienced trainer that you meet early on your journey and, later on, begin traveling with. Born and raised in Ecruteak City in the Johto Region, Acento has been on his journey for multiple years and has traversed multiple regions. Maybe you and your rival can learn from his guidance.

Acento is intended to read as being a former protagonist, and the protagonist of his own story. In fact, while you may not know the context of his story, it intertwines with your own in an intrinsic way that will end up surprising both of you.

With his partner Feraligatr, Ordai, Acento proves to be a huge asset on your adventure, stepping in to help if you decide you need it and otherwise letting you handle things yourself. He provides an encouraging voice and, at times, a heroic determination and optimism in the face of impossible odds.
Kaiser
Written and created by Keileon.

Kaiser is a mysterious trainer you encounter when you begin traveling with him and Acento. Though he dislikes battling, he's taken it upon himself to guide Acento through Altaris, tagging along to apparently keep him out of trouble. Unlike Acento, he offers very few details about his origins or past, and seems to stay guarded around people he isn't overly familiar with. All the information that he does offer is that he dislikes Pokémon battles, preferring to breed and raise the Pokémon instead. This conflict-averse trainer has an interesting habit of making himself scarce when there's danger, to the point where his behavior can seem downright suspicious.

When he isn't being mildly shady, Kaiser presents a cool head, a calm demeanor, and a sense of reason when Acento is busy being a protagonist. He's friendly enough with the player and their rival, and even seems to dislike Rhodie just a little. But the things he does in the background- vanishing at interesting times, particular word choice, avoiding much of the plot happening around you- make one ask: is Kaiser's behavior a misdirect, or is he really up to something? How red is this herring?

Image unavailable Petra
Created by Nyumi, written by both Keileon and Lord X-Giga-X.

Petra is an experienced trainer recently returned to Altaris from Sinnoh, where she challenged and defeated the Pokémon League Champion. Upon returning, however, she discovered that a terrible event had taken place in her absence: her father was murdered by a gang of Pokémon Trainers involved in Altaris's Deathmatch Circuit. She suspects Team Mortis involvement, and all the available evidence suggests that she's correct.

Though she's introduced very early in your adventure- right at the start, in fact- Petra remains absent for much of the early game. Off chasing her own demons and plotlines, her story intersects with yours mostly incidentally, when you happen to be in the same place at the same time. But maybe you can take a more active role in her character arc, and she in yours.
