"If you think about it, I'm kind of like the EVO for this website, aren't I?" |
A multi-purpose tool for trainers!
|
Never adventure alone again!
|
The PokéBit is a wearable, smartwatch-like device developed by Professor Annibelle Spruce of the Altaris Region and is an invaluable tool for Altaran trainers. Though it has all the functions of a standard Johto PokéGear, including a map, a phone, and a music player, the PokéBit also internally stores what other regions refer to as the Trainer Card. This way, it can store not only a trainer's identification, but also the various forms of currency that trainers will encounter and collect- Poké (sometimes known as PokéDollars or PokéYen), Battle Points, Coins, and more.
There's more to the PokéBit, as well. For one, the PokéBit carries the trainer's individualized Pokédex, letting them quickly check a Pokémon without having to bring out a dedicated device. A strange indent by the screen looks like it's meant to hold something, but Spruce won't tell you what it is. And within the PokéBit's programming and code is something special to help you on your journey...

Educational Virtual Operator, or EVO for short, is a virtual companion within your PokéBit programmed to guide and assist trainers through Altaris. EVO tracks various bits of information, including your current location, your to-do list, what you've most recently accomplished, and even the balance of your various forms of currency. EVO will even track what level your Pokémon will stop obeying you, and can serve as both a Pokédex evaluator in Spruce's stead as well as an encounter tracker, telling you how many Pokémon you've left to encounter in the area, and how many you've already caught.
EVO changes form depending on the time of day. From the local hours of 6am to 6pm, EVO will take on its Day form, a friendly Espeon avatar that's happy to help you on your way. Very patient and difficult to exasperate, EVO Day gives requested information with a smile and very little preamble.
From 6pm to 6am, however, EVO takes on its Night form. Bored and sarcastic, EVO Night is unamused by the prospect of guiding a teenager through the wilderness. Though it provides the same functions as its Day counterpart, it will do so with quips and light insults in the hopes that you'll leave it alone.

Always keep yourself on-track! |
Win prizes by solving passwords! |
While on your journey, you will encounter people who require help, strange objects to interact with, or situations that require deeper investigation. Between those and the main focus of your journey, you may forget what exactly it is you're meant to do. Good news- you have a Quest Log to keep track of this!
Quest titles are color-coded based on the type of quest, with red and yellow being the default for story and side quests respectively, and further coloration specifying things such as important battles or multi-part questlines. If the information on that quest's page doesn't tell you what to do, try asking EVO-- it may give you more information!

Scattered around Altaris, you may find crumpled scraps of paper with what seem to be riddles or hints. Via EVO's Settings menu, you can refresh yourself on what these hints were or try to guess at the answer. Get these passwords correct, and win yourself a prize! Currently, the prizes include rare Pokémon and exclusive storage wallpapers.
Each password can be used only once. Pokémon obtained from this system are automatically marked as Special and cannot be sold to Suppliers for Credits.
